Fabrizio Romano: Manchester United yet to agree Diogo Dalot exit as Atletico play hardball for Kieran Trippier
Reliable journalist Fabrizio Romano has given an update on the situation of Diogo Dalot and what Manchester United need to do to land Kieran Trippier.
A right-back appears to be on the radar this summer. While Aaron Wan-Bissaka is defensively solid, his attacking prowess leaves much to be desired. This has seen the club turn their attention to Atletico Madrid ace Trippier.
The 30-year-old is currently with the England squad at the Euros. The Three Lions are currently in the semi-finals and could go all the way in the tournament.

There’s still nothing agreed with AC Milan for Diogo Dalot. Trippier price tag from Atleti – always €40m.
Dalot has struggled for game time under Ole Gunnar Solskjaer and was shipped off to AC Milan on loan last summer. While he did not set the San Siro on fire, his performances left enough of an impression for the Italians to want them to sign him permanently.
However, Romano has confirmed that an agreement for the player is yet to be reached. Whether it will change in the weeks to come remains to be seen. It is not the only deal regarding a right-back and United that appears to have hit a roadblock.
Atletico is sticking to their €40m asking price for Trippier. While he does add to our squad, the prospect of paying such an amount for a player with low resale value is poor business. Whether we finally give in or move on to other targets remains to be seen.
Trippier for his part is keen to move to Manchester. The full-back is worried that he could be priced out of a move and this remains a distinct possibility now. The 30-year-old played a key role for Atletico as they won the La Liga title. He was eventually named in the La Liga team of the year.

Whether Dalot’s departure is dependant on United landing Trippier remains to be seen. With Axel Tuanzebe and Brandon Williams likely to leave on loan, Dalot is effectively our second choice right-back. Selling him too will leave us in a spot of bother if Wan-Bissaka is sidelined sometime next season.
