Report – Camavinga arrival could mean the end of this Man United duo

Manchester United to put off pursuing Eduardo Camavinga until next summer
Eduardo Camavinga is unlikely to stay at Rennes.

Signing Eduardo Camavinga could prove counterproductive for Manchester United duo Van de Beek and Matic

According to Jack Otway of The Express, the arrival of Eduardo Camavinga could spell the end for two Manchester United stars in the current squad.

The French youngster is one of the best young talents in European football. A regular for Rennes, he has also made three senior appearances for the French national side. Not a mean feat given the talent at their disposal.

With just a year left on his deal, Camavinga has a decision to make this summer. Rennes are set to protect their interests and cash in on their starlet this summer rather than risk losing him on a free in a year’s time. (h/t Manchester Evening News)

United also face competition from Paris Saint-Germain for the player’s signature. While landing him would be a welcome move, it is fair to assume that not all players will feel the same.

One of the players who could be allowed to move on is the veteran midfielder, Nemanja Matic. At 32, the Serbian is entering the final years of his career. With AS Roma keen on his services, securing Camaviunga could prove to be the catalyst for his signature.

Matic has a better chance of garnering regular playtime at Roma. Moreover, the slower nature of the Italian league would work to his strengths in his latter years.

Donny Van de Beek is also set to be directly influenced by the Frenchman’s signing. The 24-year-old is talented but is behind Bruno Fernandes in the pecking order. He stands very little chance of starting regularly next term.

The arrival of Camavinga will prove to be another obstacle in the Dutchman’s efforts to break into the first XI. With the likes of Inter Milan, Barcelona and even Arsenal recently linked, it remains to be seen if he will be moved on.

With the Jadon Sancho deal nearing completion, United will soon be able to focus their attention on other players. Who else will potentially follow the 21-year-old to Old Trafford remains to be seen.
