Manchester United star Edinson Cavani played the whole 90 minutes as Uruguay drew 1-1 with Chile in the Copa America.

The tie gives the South American giants their first point in the competition. They had earlier opened their campaign with a 1-0 loss to Argentina.

Cavani led the line for his country, looking to add to his international goal tally of 51. While it was his strike partner Luis Suarez who eventually drew Uruguay level, Cavani did his best to trouble the Chilean defence. He even went close to settling the game with a late attempt that went wide.

Cavani had three shots in total over the course of the game. He managed to create two chances, touching the ball 42 times. The United ace also made six ball recoveries.

It was however a frustrating night given the lack of service he received from the Uruguayan midfield. While we wish him the best for the tournament, an early return to Carrington to rest and recuperate ahead of the new campaign would be a welcome sight.

We now take a look at how some fans reacted to his performance on Twitter.
