Manchester United rekindle interest in Norwich City star Max Aarons
According to ESPN, Manchester United appear to have identified Norwich City star Max Aarons as a potential addition to their right-back position this summer.
The Red Devils are in the fray to bring in a new player to compete with Aaron Wan-Bissaka this summer. The Englishman is defensively as solid as they come, however, he is found lacking when it comes to offensive contribution.
Although United are heavily linked with a move for Kieran Trippier, they could be priced out of a move for the 30-year-old. Atletico Madrid is keen to receive more than £30m for the English international. It makes little sense for United to pay it given the player’s poor resale value.
Trippier and Aarons were both on United’s radar earlier in the year. With a move for the former proving difficult, attention could eventually shift to the latter.
The 21-year-old is one of the best young full-backs in England. He played a key role for the Canaries, who have been promoted to the Premier League for next season. Aarons already has Premier League experience having been part of the Norwich side that got relegated in 2019/20.
A product of the Norwich City youth academy, Aarons has grown into a pivotal member of the first team over the past three years. The youngster is a two-way player who will give United more options.
While Aarons is not yet on Trippier’s level, the latter does have the advantage of a decade’s experience over the youngster. More so given Aarons’ age and potential, it will make more sense for us to go all out for him over the Atletico Madrid ace.
