Transfer News: Manchester United say no to AC Milan proposal for Diogo Dalot

According to transfer news from Sempre Milan, Manchester United have rejected a loan-to-buy deal for Diogo Dalot from AC Milan. The Serie A giants are looking to bring the likes of Dalot and Junior Firpo on loan and then buy them next season.

The Portuguese full-back spent the 2020/21 campaign on loan at the San Siro, playing a part in Milan’s qualification for the UEFA Champions League. While he may not have been an automatic first choice, he made 33 appearances for the Rossoneri, scoring twice and laying on three assists. (h/t Transfermarkt)

Dalot was never a sure starter for United after Wan-Bissaka’s arrival. The English right-back is one of the best in his position defensively. He has also shown a marked improvement in his attacking efforts. With Dalot set to return now, it looks unlikely that there will any shift in dynamic.

Now, Milan have been impressed with Dalot’s performances and are looking to bring him on loan again. Alongside Dalot, they want Firpo from Barcelona. However, they are looking at a loan-to-buy deal for both. However, both United and Barca have rejected such a proposal despite the duo keen on moving.

Diogo Dalot is likely to return to Manchester United once his loan spell at AC Milan ends.

More Manchester United News:

Dalot’s contract runs until 2023 and the chances of him making it at United appear remote. Due to the duration of the remaining years, United still have some time to figure out what to do with him. He is unlikely to displace Wan-Bissaka but he does have talent. United will need to come up with a solution soon.
