Jose Mourinho hits back at Manchester United star Luke Shaw
According to Metro, former Manchester United manager Jose Mourinho has hit out against criticism from Luke Shaw. The United left-back spoke about Mourinho’s management style and how it affected his performances to which the Portuguese has now replied.
Luke Shaw just capped off his best season in a red shirt. It took a lot of work and some competition from Alex Telles to produce the best in the 25-year-old. Shaw was clearly among the standout performers from the Premier League and was recalled into the England side.

However, Shaw does not have fond memories of Jose Mourinho, who managed the club between 2016-18. During that time, the Portuguese manager was overly critical of Shaw’s performances, often throwing him under the bus for the side’s failings.
With Shaw now rediscovering his best form under Solskjaer, he criticised Mourinho’s man-management. However, the new Roma manager retorted to those comments.
‘I found a boy. I found a boy after an incredible injury that put his career at risk. A boy with some fears and scars from that awful night. Then to work with me in a club where I was trying to improve mentalities and make ambitions and responsibilities to grow up. It was not easy for him. I push players to the limit and sometimes players aren’t ready to follow me in that mentality. We had good periods.’

The English star finally came full circle after he started against Scotland. It was Shaw’s first start for England in a major tournament since the 2014 World Cup. Shaw has had a difficult career but it’s easy to forget he is still 25 and is entering his prime years. Credit in no small part should go to Solskjaer, who has backed the player to return to his best.
