Manchester United star Dean Henderson set to be ready for pre-season this summer
According to Manchester Evening News, Manchester United star Dean Henderson is expected to be fit in time for the club’s pre-season this summer.
The 24-year-old was originally named in the England squad for this summer’s Euros. However, a hip injury has now seen him withdraw from the squad. He was replaced by Sheffield United goalkeeper Aaron Ramsdale.
Henderson has suffered a tear in his glute that has prevented him from training in the last week. Thankfully, his recovery time is between two to three weeks and he will be fit to return to action in July.
According to the report, United’s non-European Championship and non-Copa America participants are scheduled to report for pre-season training in mid-July. Going by the timeframe, Henderson should be fit to take part in the opening sessions.
Henderson, Aaron Wan-Bissaka, Axel Tuanzebe, Eric Bailly, Brandon Williams, Alex Telles, Nemanja Matic, Andreas Pereira, Amad, Donny van de Beek, Anthony Martial and Mason Greenwood are among the players set for a full pre-season.
A full pre-season could do wonders to the likes of Anthony Martial and Donny van de Beek who both enjoyed forgettable 2020/21 seasons.
United have not yet announced their pre-season schedule. The club could play a friendly with Queens Park Rangers at Loftus Road on July 24 before travelling to Malta for a training camp in late July and early August. This is however yet to be officially confirmed.
Meanwhile, United have pencilled in a friendly for August 3 to be played behind closed doors.
