Donny van de Beek ready to swap Manchester United for Barcelona
According to Spanish publication Sport (h/t The Mirror), Manchester United star Donny van de Beek is ready to call time on his stint at Old Trafford and move to Barcelona.
The Dutch international was United’s marquee signing last summer. He got off to a flyer by scoring on his debut against Crystal Palace but that proved to be the high point of his time at the club.
Van de Beek largely came off the bench last season, making just four Premier League starts throughout the campaign. Although he did eventually make the Dutch squad for the Euros, an injury cut short his participation. It is fair to say that it has been a largely forgettable season for the player.

According to the report, Van de Beek is being increasingly pressured to seek pastures new and could be on his way to Spain. The player also appears to be open to a loan switch in order to rediscover his mojo.
Van de Beek is clearly unhappy at Old Trafford and is in need of a change. A move to the Nou Camp will see him reunite with the likes of Frenkie De Jong and Sergino Dest, who he worked with at Ajax Amsterdam.
Barcelona too are on the lookout for a midfielder after missing out on Georginio Wijnaldum. As things stand, Van de Beek is just one among many players on the Catalan side’s radar.

So far, no formal interest has been lodged by the Catalan giants. Interestingly, the report goes on to add that they are looking for a different profile of signing. This could mean further heartbreak for Van de Beek in his efforts to quit Old Trafford.
