Antonio Rudiger escapes sanctions for ‘biting’ Manchester United star Paul Pogba
Manchester United star Paul Pogba and Chelsea ace Antonio Rudiger went up against each other in last night’s Euro 2020 clash between France and Germany.
While the United ace was the man of the match on the night, he was also involved in an incident that saw Rudiger channel his inner Luis Suarez. The German defender was seen to have sunk his teeth into the midfielder, a charge he has since denied.
According to The Guardian, Rudiger will not will not face any punishment from UEFA over the incident. The German ace appears to have gone scot free after the incident.
Speaking after the game, Pogba downplayed the incident and dismissed it. While Pogba did inform the referee about being ‘nibbled’, there was no action taken on the pitch. With the incident now over, Pogba is keen to leave it behind and move on. (h/t Man Utd)
According to the report, Rudiger harbours regrets over the incident. UEFA has chosen not to open a disciplinary case after reviewing the matter. This is welcome news for Germany, who will now take on defending champions Portugal in a massive game this Saturday.
“I should not come close with my mouth to his back, no doubt about it. It looks unfortunate. Paul and I have talked about it as friends after the final whistle.”
Rudiger had said before the game in Munich that the Germans may have to play dirty. It is fair to say that his action against Pogba was more bizarre than dirty. Hopefully, he will not try to take a bite out of Bruno Fernandes this weekend.

The incident aside, France were dominant on the night and were the better team in all parameters. If they keep up the same level, the World Champions will take some beating.
