Wes Brown urges Ole Gunnar Solskjaer to make three additions to Manchester United this summer
Speaking to Ladbrokes (h/t The Express), former Manchester United star Wes Brown has urged manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer to make three key signings for the club this summer.
The Red Devils finished second in the Premier League and the Europa League last season. While there was progress, it was also apparent that we will need to strengthen in order to go all the way in the future. With the summer window open, United have an opportunity to do just that.
Brown believes just three key additions are needed for us to bridge the gap at the top. He believes United have enough promise and do not need wholesale changes to take the next step forward.
“I’ve definitely seen an improvement at Manchester United in the past 12 months or so.”
Brown believes United are good enough to beat any team on their day. However, more often than not, they have come up short when needed. A prime example of it was the Europa League final.
Securing three players is on top of Brown’s agenda. He believes the Red Devils will be greatly enriched if they manage to bring in a new centre-back, a midfielder and a striker.
“Ole should be looking at three key areas where he can strengthen the first-team, and that’s with a new centre-back, a midfielder and a striker.”
Brown also goes n to add that some players will need to make way for the new arrivals. It is clear that the likes of Jesse Lingard and Diogo Dalot could leave this summer. Who else will join them remains to be seen.
“The club needs to lose a few players as well, and I know that’s sometimes easier said than done, but they’ve got to make some room for new arrivals.”
One of Brown’s major concerns is the lack of depth in the attack. While Edinson Cavani has impressed, he cannot be expected to start every game at his age. Anthony Martial has endured a difficult season, not making Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s job easier.
“Whenever one of our attackers got the slightest knock, we really struggled. You’re looking around at the bench and thinking ‘where’s our Ole Gunnar Solskjaer?’ That player who can make a difference. There just needs to be a bit of strength in depth in that area.”

It is a pivotal summer for United, who will need to bring in not just players but the right ones. Signing the wrong players could very well be just as bad as of an impact.
