According to AS (h/t The Express), Manchester United are ready to meet Borussia Dortmund’s asking price for English international Jadon Sancho.

It was just earlier this week that the Red Devils saw an initial £67million bid knocked back. With personal terms already agreed, the transfer fee appeared to be the last hurdle left for us to overcome.

As things stand, United appear to be ready to give in and pay what is needed to land the flying winger. A dynamic player, Sancho will add a much-needed boost to our offence on the right wing.

United are confident of landing Sancho

Dortmund wanted around £108m for the winger last summer, a figure United was not ready to match. The player failed to put up the same number as in the 2019/20 season, prompting Dortmund to lower their asking price to around £80million.

The fact that a return of 17 goals and 16 assists in 32 games is seen as a step back showcases the standards that Sancho has set for himself. It is fair to say that United will be getting their money’s worth in the Englishman.

While United were hoping to seal the deal before England’s match against Croatia, that has not happened. The player was however curiously left out of the England squad for the game.

With United now ready to meet the asking price, a deal can be closed as quickly as possible. The quicker we get this deal done, the sooner we can focus our attentions elsewhere.

As per the report, United will offer Sancho a five-year deal that will net him £350,000-a-week in wages. While the deal appears to be progressing to the final stretch, United are still not getting their hopes up. It is better to be cautious and get the work done rather than celebrate prematurely.

Siging Sancho has been overdue by a year but better now than never.
