According to Manchester Evening News, Manchester United star, Luke Shaw is nursing a wrist injury while on duty with the England national team.

The left-back made the cut for this summer’s Euros after an impressive season with United. The 25-year-old made it to the PFA Team of the Year, beating the likes of Ben Chilwell and Andy Robertson.

Shaw did not play any part in England’s opening match against Croatia. Thankfully, it does not appear to be because of his wrist. The United ace sustained damage to the tendons in his wrist and has been wearing protective strapping since he joined the England camp on June 3.

He was assessed fit ahead of the match against Croatia and cleared to take part. Perhaps as a precaution, Gareth Southgate chose to play Kieran Trippier in his stead. Ben Chilwell meanwhile was not even in the matchday squad.

Shaw started England’s friendly against Romania on the eighth. He lasted 74 minutes before being taken off. Given that this occurred after his injury, it is fair to assume that this situation is not too bad. Hopefully, he will make a full recovery before the 2021/22 season kicks off in August.

The United curse?

It is not proving to be a good Euros for United’s English contingent. Mason Greenwood who was included in the extended 33-man preliminary squad was forced to withdraw thanks to underlying issues. Marcus Rashford, meanwhile, went into the tournament struggling with various niggles and is aware that surgery is imminent.

Meanwhile, Dean Henderson and Harry Maguire have their own issues ahead of the game against Scotland. The former trained away from the England squad today while the latter was pictured with the main group. The quickest Maguire can hope to return is the final group clash against the Czech Republic. More Manchester United News

The struggles faced by the United stars comes as no concern given the long and gruelling season they just had. Hopefully, Southgate makes use of them with caution, not aggravating any injuries the Red Devils quartet may have.

After all, Ole Gunnar Solskajer will need them fit and firing in two months time.
