Cristiano Ronaldo addresses his future amidst Manchester United interest
According to Manchester Evening News, Cristiano Ronaldo has opened up on his future amidst interest from Manchester United in the summer transfer window.
The 36-year-old has been linked with a return to Old Trafford since he left for Real Madrid back in 2009. He still has a year to go on his Juventus contract but there are massive doubts as to whether he will see it out.
According to the report, Ronaldo is still in touch with Ole Gunnar Solskjaer. A return to United could be on the cards if the finances involved make sense. Given the fortune he earns at Juventus, it is easier said than done.
Speaking to the press, Ronaldo failed to give an indication of what the future holds for him. It is perhaps interesting to notice that the 36-year-old does not seem too perturbed as to where his future lies.
“Whatever comes will be for the best regardless of staying at Juve or being transferred.”
A veteran of the game, Ronaldo is not one to be affected by idle talk anymore. The Portuguese legend has given it his best no matter where he played. The fans of Sporting Lisbon, United, Real Madrid and now Juventus will all agree that Ronaldo always gave it his all.
There is little reason to assume that he will drop off a level regardless of where he ends up. In his own words, he appears unfazed at what is to come
“I have been playing at the highest level for many years, this doesn’t faze me.”
Priorities!
For now, Ronaldo’s focus remains on this summer’s Euros. having led Portugal to the title last time around, he will be keen for a repeat this summer. The defending champions take on Hungary in their opening fixture of the tournament on Tuesday.
“The crucial thing now is the Euros, it is my fifth Euros, but for me it’s like my first Euros. We want to play a good match with good thoughts from the first to the last match.”

From Ronaldo’s comments, it can be gauged that he is open to moving elsewhere this summer. Whether that destination is United remains to be seen. Despite his age, he remains a potent player who still racks up the goals and can turn a match on its head.
However, unless the finances are favourable, it will make little sense for us to go all out on bringing him back to the Theatre of Dreams.
