Transfer News: Atletico Madrid want €40m for Manchester United target Kieran Trippier
According to transfer news from reputed journalist Fabrizio Romano, Atletico Madrid want €40m for Manchester United target Kieran Trippier. It was earlier reported that a bid of £10m was rejected by Atleti and they want his full release clause to be paid.
The Red Devils are keen on bringing in the 30-year-old to compete alongside Aaron Wan-Bissaka. An experienced hand who also offers much in attack, securing Trippier will give Ole Gunnar Solskjaer an extra option to play with.
Trippier was a key part of Diego Simeone’s La Liga winning side last season. He has had an excellent two years in Spain since leaving Tottenham Hotspur in 2019. The Spanish champions are not in the best financial health and could be open to selling their star man.
Nonetheless, any hope that United had of completing a cut-price deal has been handed a blow. Romano claimed that Atleti will not budge on the release clause of the player and want the full €40m to be paid.

Trippier is currently with the England squad at the Euros. Three Lions boss Gareth Southgate admitted recently that he does not see any deals for his players being completed before the tournament ends. However, the deal for Trippier just got a whole lot more expensive and complicated.
