Manchester United target Ilaix Moriba set to pen fresh terms with Barcelona
According to La Vanguardia (h/t Sport Witness), Manchester United have been dealt a major blow in their efforts to land Ilaix Moriba this summer.
The 18-year-old is among the best young talents to emerge from La Masia in recent years. Having failed to agree on fresh terms in the past, Barcelona finally appears to have made a breakthrough.
The Catalans have a meeting planned with the 18-year-old for next Thursday to sort out a deal that would see him extend his deal for three years. According to the report, the player’s love for the club should see him stay put at the Nou Camp.
A number of top teams including Manchester City and Chelsea are keen on the youngster. Moriba made 18 appearances for Barcelona last season. He scored one goal and assisted three during that time. (h/t Transfermarkt)
With Georginio Wijnaldum now set to join Paris Saint-Germain, Moriba could benefit next season at the Nou Camp. It was reported earlier that Moriba’s wage demands are a major factor in holding up the deal.
The report goes on to add that he is delighted to play for Barcelona and wants to continue doing so. While a contract is yet to be signed, there appear to be increased chances of him staying put.
