Manchester United star Marcus Rashford opens up on being told to stick to football

Manchester United star Marcus Rashford is a man who has established himself as a hero both on and off the field.

While his prowess on the field is known to all, he has also emerged as a role model for social justice in the last couple of years. Not everyone is thankful though with a number of fans, United or otherwise, have often blamed his loss of form on his activities off the field.

The latest incident occurred ahead of kick-off in England’s friendly against Romania. A chorus of boos ran around the stadium as the Three Lions stars took the knee. It is fair to say that not everyone is a fan of footballers contributing to movements away from the field.

According to The Mirror, Rashford continues to stay dignified in spite of being attacked. He has dismissed allegations that his activities off the field have affected his performances on it.

“Nothing changes in terms of football, I’m still hungry and determined to win things and win trophies. As long as that stays, there’s not an issue with doing the two things.”

Despite his age, Rashford is a veteran player with over 250 appearances for United. He ended last season as the club’s second top scorer and assist getter. While he did end the season poorly, there was clearly more to the issue.

Poor man management?

A major reason for Rashford’s drop off in form has to be poor man-management on Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s part. After all, the 23-year-old played through injuries for the better part of last season, missing just four matches.

Fatigue was bound to catch up with him and the player was unable to overcome the obstacle. With him set to have surgery at the Euros, United could potentially have to start the 2021/22 campaign sans their number 10.

As a public figure, Rashford showcased in recent months just what power he has to improve people’s lives for the better. Just what he decides to do and how he goes about it is solely up to the United star and nobody can tell him otherwise.
