Dean Henderson confident Solskjaer will make him the first choice goalkeeper at Manchester United

According to The Express, Manchester United star Dean Henderson believes he will have Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s blessings at Old Trafford next season.

The 24-year-old returned to United last summer after two impressive seasons on loan at Sheffield United. He received his share of first-team opportunities last season and even displaced David de Gea from the starting position for a time.

While the Spaniard did eventually regain his spot and even start the Europa League final, it is debatable if United have a clear number one at this moment in time.

Henderson knows his time will come

Henderson is keen to keep working and believes his efforts will eventually pay off. The English international appears to have faith in his abilities and will hopefully be rewarded for it in the future.

“It’ll happen one day and I know it’ll happen, so I’m just going to keep working hard day in, day out and my time will come. I was 100 per cent born ready.”

While training hard is well and good, it will matter for little unless he can perform when given an opportunity. Henderson realizes that and is keen to ready when the opportunity comes calling.

“I’ve just got to be ready for when that time comes. There’s no excuses when you step over that white line.”

Will Dean Henderson replace David de Gea at Manchester United

Henderson was amongst the four United stars picked for Gareth Southgate’s England squad for the Euros. Whether he can give a good account of himself in the tournament remains to be seen.

A strong showing will certainly boost his chances heading into pre-season training in good shape.

In De Gea and Henderson, Solskjaer has two top-level goalkeepers to choose from. While he may have juggled the two last season, he is not keen to do the same in the upcoming one. Whether he will decide in Henderson’s favour remains to be seen.
