Transfer News: Manchester United ‘eye’ Dusan Vlahovic as alternative to Erling Haaland
According to The Express, Fiorentina striker Dusan Vlahovic finds himself on the radar of several big European clubs, including Manchester United.
La Viola frontman Vlahovic managed a staggering 21 goals in Serie A this season, even bagging a couple of assists in the process. And those kinds of numbers rarely go unnoticed.
Erling Haaland is one named linked to United as Ole Gunnar Solskjaer seeks to strengthen his frontline. However, the €200million price tag slapped on him could drive a number of his suitors away.
And Vlahovic could be a wise alternative to the Borussia Dortmund forward. Fiorentina’s price tag of £51million for Vlahovic is much more reasonable and affordable for interested teams.
Battle of Dusan
But the Red Devils have a plethora of competition for the Serbian striker as well. Reports in Italy as cited by The Express state the Juventus and Inter Milan are interested in signing him, with the Old Lady even considering a possibility of a two-year loan deal.
The report goes on to add two more names to the list – Spanish giants Real Madrid and Premier League champions, Manchester City. The Cityzens will be without their star striker, Sergio Aguero, for next season.
Vlahovic’s contract runs until the summer of 2023. While Juventus have been cited as wanting a two-year loan deal, United are said to be interested in buying the player outright.

If Ole Gunnar Solskjaer does want a striker in the summer and is priced out of a move for Haaland, then Vlahovic is certainly not a bad option. But it remains to be seen how he would adapt to life in the Premier League and if United can outmuscle other suitors to his signature.
