Scott McTominay praises Edinson Cavani as he names Manchester United that impressed the most this season
Speaking to the club media, Scott McTominay recapped the entire 2020/21 season and had a ton of praise for teammate Edinson Cavani.
United have had a number of great performers over the course of the season as the club finished second. In particular, Bruno Fernandes took the whole league by storm as he earned a PFA Player of the Year nomination.
However, according to the Scottish midfielder, it was veteran striker Edinson Cavani that produced the most impressive performances. McTominay praised Cavani’s work ethic and mentioned that the Uruguayan is one of the best professionals he has ever seen.
“That’s a tough one, you know. I’d probably say Edi in the recent games. He works hard. People don’t realise how hard he works. He’s one of the best professionals that I’ve seen. He’s top.”
Cavani has been brilliant
Cavani joined United from Paris Saint-Germain as a free agent and has since gone on to impress with his performances, especially when coming off from the bench.
The former Palermo and Napoli hitman scored an impressive 17 goals and bagged 6 assists during the most recent campaign. And even at 34, he shows no signs of slowing down.
McTominay himself had a great season and when asked to recall his favourite goal out of the 7 he scored, the Scotsman picked the one against Southampton in a 9-0 rout. However, he feels like he can add more to his tally.
“There should be more! There should be a few corners chucked in there but we’ll get to them. I’d say the best goal was the one against Southampton because it was clean.”
