Manchester United hold the edge over Liverpool in the race for Jadon Sancho

According to Anfield Central (h/t The Express), Liverpool is in a position to make a move for Manchester United target Jadon Sancho in the upcoming summer transfer window.

The Red Devils came close to landing the 21-year-old last summer but were unable to see the deal through. A year on, little appears to have changed with regards to the club’s interest in signing him.

According to the report, the Merseysiders may be in a much stronger financial position than initially thought. They are believed to have the funds in place to make a move for the Dortmund ace.

It has been suggested that Jurgen Klopp’s side will need to sell before they can buy. However, that does not appear to be the case.

Thankfully, United still appear to have the upper hand when it comes to landing the English winger. A bid of around £80million should be enough for the Red Devils to land their man.

It is no joke in today’s market and equals the second-highest fee United ever paid for a player. It will be dwarfed only by the mammoth £89m we paid for Paul Pogba in 2019.

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer is keen to strengthen the right-wing spot and has identified Sancho as a top priority. Despite having chased him for over a year, we have still been unable to land the player.

While the likes of Daniel James and Mason Greenwood can do a job, neither of them are at the same level as the Dortmund ace. Adding him to our roster will give the offence a massive upgrade.

European champions Chelsea are also interested in the player and could make a move for him. The 21-year-old supported the Blues as a boy, giving Thomas Tuchel’s side a small advantage.

Hopefully, United can get the deal over the line quickly. A good Euros with England will only see the player’s star rise even further.
