Manchester United target Youri Tielemans to decide his future after the Euros

According to EuroSport (h/t Leicester Mercury), Leicester City star Youri Tielemans is set to make a decision on his future amidst interest from Manchester United amongst others.

The Belgian international is among the best midfielders in the league and has increasingly asserted his dominance on the field under Brendan Rodgers. He scored the winner in the FA Cup final, leading the Foxes to their first-ever win in the competition.

Unfortunately, Leicester’s season ended in heartbreak as they once again finished outside the top four, missing out on Champions League qualification.

With his current deal expiring in 2023, Leicester may be forced into a decision this summer. While they are keen to tie him down to a new contract, an agreement has not yet been reached.

The player himself does not appear to be in a hurry and plans to use the Euros to amplify his profile. With United and Liverpool already on his heels, it is fair to say there is no shortage of suitors.

As things stand, Tielemans will make a decision on his future once the tournament ends. Belgium are one of the favourites and could be set for a long run in the competition. In the end, we may have to wait until July before we know his decision.

The right profile?

United do have numbers in midfield but a change could be in order. Paul Pogba and Donny van de Beek’s futures are in the air while Nemanja Matic is not getting any younger.

Moreover, Fred is an industrious but rather limited player we may need to upgrade on. Tielemans ticks a lot of the right boxes but whether we can land him remains to be seen.
