Manchester United plot move for Atletico Madrid star Kieran Trippier
According to the Daily Mail, Manchester United are plotting a move for Atletico Madrid ace Kieran Trippier in the upcoming summer transfer window.
The 30-year-old played a key role as Atletico Madrid won the La Liga title last season. The Spaniards are however desperate for cash and will sanction a transfer for the English international.
United are keen to bring in competition for Aaron Wan-Bissaka and appear to be ready to make their move for Trippier. Premier League rivals Everton are also keen on the right-back.
The Red Devils are also keen to bring in Raphael Varane and Jadon Sancho. They do not however have the luxury of unlimited funds and will need to structure their resources.
Ole Gunnar Solskjaer is keen on a rebuild to close the gap on Manchester City at the top of the Premier League and perform better in the Champions League. His lack of faith in his squad’s depth was laid bare during our Europa League final loss to Villarreal.
Trippier has been monitored throughout the season and his superb performances have convinced both United and England boss Gareth Southgate of his quality.
Trippier not only is an excellent set-piece taker but also offers a punch in attack. This is a far cry from Wan-Bissaka, who is solid at the back but not so good offensively.
The 30-year-old will offer United a different option and will offer Solskjaer different something different. He could prove to be pivotal if we are serious about mixing things up.

It was reported last December that Trippier was open to a switch to United. The Englishman grew up in the town of Manchester and is familiar with the environment. It remains to be seen if a return home is in the offing.
