Manchester United enter the fray for Lille star Zeki Celik
According to The Standard, Manchester United have entered the race to sign Turkish international Zeki Celik.
The 24-year-old was one of the stars of the LOSC Lille side that won last season’s Ligue 1 crown. Zelik made 35 appearances across all competitions for Les Dogues, scoring four goals and making three assists. (h/t Transfermarkt)
The Turkish international’s performances have seen him garner attention from the likes of not just United but also Tottenham Hotspur and Arsenal.
Celik has two years left on his deal at the Stade Pierre Mauroy but appears keen on the interest shown in him from the Premier League. A number of other clubs from across Europe are also keeping tabs on him including Inter Milan.
The 24-year-old is quickly establishing himself as a reliable player and would be an excellent addition to the United squad. However, the likes of Arsenal and Tottenham are in much more dire need of a right-back and can put up a strong fight.
Valued at just £13million, Zelik represents excellent value for money and could prove to be a shrewd acquisition. The Red Devils are in the market for a right-back and are keen to bring in competition for Aaron Wan-Bissaka.
The Englishman is United’s first choice in the position and has largely made the position his own. While he is solid defensively, Wan-Bissaka leaves much to be desired going forward.
