Manchester United target Kieran Trippier admits he is happy at Atletico Madrid
According to The Express, Atletico Madrid star Kieran Trippier has thrown a spanner on the chances of Manchester United landing him this summer.
The Englishman has emerged as a key player for Diego Simeone’s side since moving from Tottenham Hotspur in 2019. He made 28 appearances, assisting six goals as Atletico won the La Liga title last season.
His performances have garnered him the attention of United. The Red Devils are keen to bring in a right-back this summer to compete alongside Aaron Wan-Bissaka.
According to the report, an £18m offer was thought to be enough to prise him away from the Wanda Metropolitano this summer. But that has now been called into question.
The 30-year-old is enjoying life in the Spanish capital and is thrilled at winning the title. If anything his latest comments hint at no suggestions that he is seeking a move elsewhere.
“I’m enjoying myself so much out there. I’m just fully focused on doing the best I can for my club.”
Rewarded for his performances
Trippier is certainly enjoying his time at Atletico and appears to be keen to continue doing his best for the team. With his family also settled in, it may prove difficult for United to entice him to Old Trafford.
“I’m enjoying myself, loving it, my family are enjoying it, there’s sunshine every single day so I just need to keep doing as well as I can for Atletico.”
The veteran star’s performances were rewarded when he was included in Gareth Southgate’s final England squad to take part in the Euros. An excellent set-piece taker, Tripper’s unstoppable free-kick took us to within 22 minutes of making the final of the 2018 FIFA World Cup.

Trippier is not only an excellent set-piece taker but also offers a punch in the attack. This is a far cry from Wan-Bissaka, who is solid at the back but is not so good in the attack. The 30-year-old will offer United a different option and will grant Ole Gunnar Solskjaer different possibilities if the situation calls for it.
He currently has two years left on his current deal. Atletico for their part are keen to offer him a new deal and it would appear we may have to look elsewhere for our man.
