The future of Lautaro Martinez at Inter Milan remains unclear amidst Manchester United interest
Speaking to Italian television broadcaster Telelombardia (h/t Sempre Inter), football agent Alejandro Camano has opened up on the future of Inter Milan ace Lautaro Martinez who had earlier garnered interest from Manchester United.
The Argentine forward was on United’s radar last summer but a deal failed to materialize. A year on, interest appears to have cooled somewhat but the player continues to go from strength to strength.
Martinez impressed alongside Romelu Lukaku as Antonio Conte led the Nerazzurri to their first Serie A title in over a decade. The joy is however short-lived thanks to their final concerns.
The Italian champions have already parted ways with Conte and are hoping to raise around €120million through player sales. One of the players who could be on his way out is Martinez, who is attracting attention from Atletico Madrid and Real Madrid.
The 23-year-old has two years left on his current deal at the San Siro. Recent negotiations regarding a new offer have gotten nowhere but Camano remains undaunted.
He remains locked in talks regarding a new deal and admits that any previous issues in negotiations were down to the player’s previous agent.
“The relationship with the club is good. If the renewal agreement was not reached earlier it is due to the previous agent.”
Taking advantage of the mess?
Inter have faced financial difficulties this season and owners Suning had also deferred players’ wages. With them looking set to lose a number of their star players including Romelu Lukaku, it is fair to say that challenging times lie ahead for the Serie A champions.
According to an earlier report, United demanded that Inter Milan pay up the remaining £43million they owed for Lukaku or sell them Lautaro Martinez or Milan Skriniar in exchange.
It is unclear if the situation still persists and if United will make a similar offer and take advantage of Inter’s position.

Martinez is a player who has a high ceiling. He already has enough experience at the top level and at 23 has his best years ahead of him. Although Edinson Cavani penned a contract extension, United could do with another striker coming in.
Whether we will make a move for Martinez remains to be seen.
