Manchester United in talks with AC Milan regarding Diogo Dalot
According to Italian outlet CalcioMercato (h/t Sport Witness), Manchester United and AC Milan are in talks regarding an extension to the loan deal of Diogo Dalot.
The 22-year-old spent the 2020/21 season on loan at the San Siro. While he may not have been an automatic first choice, he made 33 appearances for the Rossoneri, scoring twice and laying off three assists. (h/t Transfermarkt)
While the spell cannot be termed as an unqualified success, he has definitely had his moments under the sun. The player for his part is happy with his experience and played his role in taking Milan back to the Champions League.
For now though, Dalot will be returning to Old Trafford. Milan ended their season with an impressive 1-0 win against Atalanta on Sunday.
According to an earlier report, United will be willing to part ways with the youngster for around £13m. While it does represent a loss on what we paid for him, his performances for United have been nothing to write home about
Capable of playing on either flank, Dalot’s versatility is a major boon for a side that needs reinforcements this summer, especially with a Champions League campaign to come.
With his contract running until 2023, Dalot still has two years left at United. It is difficult to see him reestablish himself at Old Trafford and a parting of the ways may be the best solution for all parties involved.
A return to Italy could very well be on the cards for Dalot in the summer. Whether that will be with Milan or someone else remains to be seen.
