Manchester United Team News: Solskjaer to choose between Rashford and Greenwood for Europa League final
According to the club’s official site, Manchester United manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has revealed that he is dealing with a selection conundrum ahead of the Europa League final.
The Norwegian admits that choosing between Mason Greenwood and Marcus Rashford is a concern and he will make a decision that will maximize United’s performance on the night.
“Both of them have done really well but we’ll see. We’ll pick a team that I think will make problems for Villarreal.”
Both players were rested yesterday night against Wolverhampton Wanderers as United ended their Premier League campaign with a 2-1 win.
Both Rashford and Greenwood have played their part in United reaching the final this season. While the former has a better overall record this campaign, the latter has been the one in good form in the last few weeks.
Greenwood endured a difficult start to the season but has come into his own in the last few months. He has scored a number of key goals for the club and looks to be in top form heading into the trip to Gdansk.
Rashford, meanwhile, may have dropped off a little but is a proven match-winner on his day. The 23-year-old battled injuries to ensure United kept going under Solskjaer this season.
One player who, however, appears to be facing a losing battle to feature against Villarreal is skipper Harry Maguire.
The Englishman has until Tuesday to prove his fitness or miss the club’s biggest game in the last four years. Either way, United will have to ensure they don’t throw away what has been a god-given opportunity to end their four-year trophy-less run.

It will be interesting to see which of Rashford or Greenwood will make the cut against the Villarreal. At the very least we will have a proven match-winner to bring off the bench if needed.
But then there is no reason why we cannot just start both of them together.
