Manchester United loanee Jesse Lingard unlikely to sign permanently with West Ham United
Speaking to West Ham United’s official website (h/t Mirror), Manchester United loanee Jesse Lingard has hinted that he may not sign on permanently for West Ham United this summer.
The 28-year-old joined the London based club on loan earlier this January. He has since thrived under David Moyes, scoring and assisting for fun as West Ham challenged for an unlikely Champions League spot.
While the Hammers eventually fell short, Lingard came out of the whole spell with his reputation enhanced. He has also earned himself a real shot at making the England squad for this summer’s European Championships.
While Lingard admits that the spell at West Ham has been productive, he went on to add that he will take away good memories from his time at the club.
The 28-year-old’s comments indicate that his future lies elsewhere and he will not be returning to West Ham next season.
“It’s been great, I’ve made a lot of new people and made a countless number of friends, so to take on this challenge has been amazing and to take away the memories will be special.”
It was reported earlier this month that the Hammers would struggle to meet Lingard’s wage demands. Whether the player is willing to make a compromise remains to be seen.
David Moyes has admitted that he would like to keep Lingard beyond this season. The Scot yet retains hope that the Englishman will return for a permanent spell in the English capital.
A number of top teams such as Paris Saint-Germain, Real Madrid and Inter Milan are all keeping tabs on Lingard. It is fair to say that West Ham is not the most glamourous option out there.

United, for their part, do not appear to be averse to letting Lingard go. The Englishman does not feature in Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s plans and has only a year to go on his current deal. (h/t Express)
Lingard’s value has never been higher and the club will do well to cash in on him. A strong Euros with England will only see his reputation soar further.
