Transfer News: Barcelona enter race for Manchester United target Pau Torres

According to transfer news from Daily Star, Barcelona have entered the race for Manchester United target Pau Torres. The Spanish defender is expected to leave Villarreal at the end of the season, with the likes of United and Real Madrid interested.

Pau Torres has been heavily linked with Manchester United this summer. He has been a vital cog in Unai Emery’s Villarreal side who await us in the Europa League final.

The 24-year-old Spanish defender was outstanding against Arsenal in the Europa League semi-finals. The Gunners even draw a blank in the second leg at home.

It is no secret that United are after a central defender. We are badly in need of a defender to partner Harry Maguire.

He is the only dependable option in central defence right now. Eric Bailly and Victor Lindelof have not stepped up to the challenge. It’s only natural we are after a defender.

However, United’s task just got a bit more difficult with Barcelona now wanting the defender.

They want to revamp their defence by selling off Samuel Umtiti and then bringing in Pau Torres and Eric Garcia. However, they might try to offer players for Torres as he has a high release clause of €60million.

More Manchester United News:

It will be interesting to see how much effort we put in to sign Pau Torres given he has proven his worth this season.

Manchester United need a central defender and Pau Torres seems like a good option to pursue. But with Barcelona now after him, United cannot afford to waste any time.
