Transfer News: Jose Mourinho to raid Manchester United for Nemanja Matic

According to transfer news from Mirror, Jose Mourinho is all set to go after Manchester United midfielder Nemanja Matic. The pair could be set for a third reunion at Roma where Jose Mourinho is set to return as manager.

The Serbian was signed from Chelsea in 2017 and has so far gone on to make 156 appearances for United. During this time, he has scored four goals and made seven assists. (h/t Transfermarkt)

At 32, Matic is no more a first-team regular for United. However, his experience is invaluable and is often called upon late during games to shore up the defence and give a sense of calmness to the side.

He has been given some game time in the latter stages of the campaign as Solskjaer tries to rotate his squad effectively.

As Jose Mourinho starts on a new journey at AS Roma, there could be some familiar faces he could turn to. One of them is Matic, who he has managed twice before at Chelsea and United.

He was the one to bring him to the clubs on both occasions. United are also ready to sanction a sale for Matic for £8.6million.

The summer transfer window could prove pivotal for United. Selling off their fringe players could boost the transfer kitty as we look to go one further and win the Premier League next season.

Matic has served the club well but it does not look like he is going to be making a splash as a starter anymore.
