Transfer News: Manchester United contact Sevilla for Jules Kounde

According to transfer news from Express, Manchester United are in contact with Sevilla over the asking price of Jules Kounde. The Red Devils have seemingly zeroed in on the 22-year-old French defender.

Kounde is an extremely promising player who appears to have a bright future ahead of him. He was a part of the Sevilla side that knocked United out of the Europa League last season.

The defender has already represented France at the youth level in the Under-19 and Under-21 stages. He has also been included in France’s Euros squad for the summer.

The French youngster has been in excellent form for Sevilla and is a regular for Julian Lopetegui’s side. He has made 48 appearances for them this season, scoring four goals and assisting one. (h/t Transfermarkt)

It has now been reported that United have been given an asking price of £56m by Sevilla. That fee could go north depending on his performances for France in the European Championships. It is clear that United will have to stump up a premium fee if they are to secure a premium centre-back.

Both Victor Lindelof and Eric Bailly struggled against Liverpool. With Harry Maguire out injured, our defence lacks in terms of quality and leadership.

Whether we will land Kounde or settle for an alternative remains to be seen. United cannot afford to leave the issue unaddressed this summer.
