Transfer News: Manchester United ready to sell Diogo Dalot this summer

According to a video posted on Italian outlet CalcioMercato, Manchester United are not averse to parting ways with Diogo Dalot this summer.

The 22-year-old was one of Jose Mourinho’s final signings as United manager. A spate of injuries and poor form have failed to see him cement a spot in thje Red Devils squad.

Largely a fringe player under Ole Gunnar Solskjaer, Dalot was sent out on loan to AC Milan last summer. He has enjoyed comparatively better luck at the San Siro, making 31 appearances and making five goal contributions. (h/t Transfermarkt)

While he has impressed, there has been a lack of consistency in his performances at Milan. This has seen him remain behind Theo Hernandez in the pecking order at left-back.

The Rossoneri however are keen to keep him on with the player also willing to stay put. Thankfully for them, United are not too keen to keep the player and will sell him for the right amount.

According to the report, Milan can land the youngster for around €18m or €15m pus the rest being ma de up in bonuses. It represents a fair price for a player who has his best years ahead of him.

Diogo Dalot is likely to return to Manchester United once his loan spell at AC Milan ends.
Dalot has been a peripheral player at United

Capable of playing on either flank, Dalot’s versatility is a major boon for a side that needs reinforcing this summer. Milan lead Serie A for the early stages of the season but gradually fell away.

Dalot may still have much to prove when it comes to him becoming a world-class player. Given the options at United’s disposal, he would be better off trying his luck elsewhere.

With his contract running until 2023, Dalot still has two years left at United. While Solskjaer has left the door open on a potential return, a parting of the ways may be the best outcome for all parties.
