“Because of the Glazers” – Several fans angry as Man United women’s manager quits her job

Casey Stoney to leave Manchester United this summer

According to the club’s official site, Manchester United women’s manager, Casey Stoney will leave the club this summer.

She was critical to a club that was started from scratch. Today, United is an established side in the Women’s Super League and Stoney has to take a lot of credit for it. They finished fourth this season.

“It has been an honour to lead the women’s team at this great club and this has been an incredibly tough decision.”

The decision may have been tough for Casey but it came as a complete surprise to her players who were informed of it just an hour before.

Tensions between Stoney and the club had been simmering for some time thanks to a lack of investment in training facilities.

Although the training was moved from Leigh Sports Village to Carrington in recent weeks, the women’s team had to arrange their sessions as per the men’s schedule.

United said in 2018 that they would improve facilities for the women’s team at The Cliff, the former men’s team training ground. However, that is yet to take place.
