Manchester United to make an £80m bid for Jadon Sancho

According to the Daily Star, Manchester United look set to make an £80m bid for Jadon Sancho in the summer transfer window.

This comes just a summer after the Red Devils refused to pay Borussia Dortmund’s valuation of £100m for the English international. One of the finest young wingers in the game, Sancho has continued to improve himself and is today a better all-rounded player.

While his numbers may have dipped, he has produced moments of brilliance that lays bare his abilities. He scored a brace yesterday night as Dortmund saw off an inspired RB Leipzig 3-2 in the Bundesliga.

United’s interest appears to still hold despite Sancho’s stop-gap season. He remains Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s top target this summer and the club is keen to land him.

The winger is not, however, the only Dortmund player on United’s radar. The Red Devils are also keeping tabs on both Jude Bellingham and Erling Haaland.

Haaland is one of the top young strikers in world football. However, with Edinson Cavani set to extend his stay, United are set to focus their efforts on landing Sancho instead.

The pandemic may force Dortmund’s hand to accept United’s offer. Dortmund sporting director Michael Zorc recently admitted that the Germans are willing to sell Sancho if the right offer comes in. Whether United’s offer will be deemed that remains to be seen.

Sancho, for his part, has refused to give anything away. He appears content at Dortmund and has admitted that in his post-match interview yesterday night.

Given his experience and ability, Sancho would be a cracking addition to our right-wing position. He has so far scored 14 goals and assisted 18 more in just 35 games this season. (h/t Transfermarkt)
