Manchester United turn to Andre Silva to solve striker problems

Manchester United may have been handed a boost in their pursuit of Portuguese striker Andre Silva.
Will United make a move for Silva?

Transfer News: Manchester United to turn to Andre Silva

According to transfer news from Shoot, Manchester United are prepared to go after Andre Silva this summer. Silva has been earmarked as a potential alternative for Erling Haaland, who is also on the club’s wishlist but might be too expensive to pursue.

United are in the market for a striker in the upcoming summer. With Edinson Cavani’s future still up in the air, the need for the Red Devils to bring in someone new has gotten more urgent.

Otherwise, United will have to head into the new season with the inconsistent Anthony Martial as their first-choice striker.

Erling Haaland and Andre Silva have scored the same number of league goals this season

While Erling Haaland remains our top target, competition for the Norwegian is high with some of the continent’s top sides in the fray.

That is even before taking into consideration Borussia Dortmund’s massive asking price of around £150m. Hence, United are looking at Andre Silva of Eintracht Frankfurt as a more economical alternative.

The Portuguese striker is enjoying a scintillating season in the Bundesliga. With 25 goals and seven assists in just 29 Bundesliga appearances, he is spearheading the German side’s bid alongside Luka Jovic, for a top-four finish. (h/t Transfermarkt)

Interestingly, Silva has the same number of Bundesliga goals as the higher-rated Haaland. Moreover, he is likely to cost far lesser than the Dortmund man. The Portuguese striker would be well worth the investment if United decide to go ahead with it instead of Haaland.
