Manchester United owner Joel Glazer to pay the UEFA fines from his pocket
According to Daily Star, Manchester United ower Joel Glazer will be paying the fines imposed by UEFA from his pocket. UEFA finally announced the sanctions on nine of the 12 clubs that formed the European Super League.
The Red Devils were among the 12 clubs who committed to the breakaway Super League. Following much outcry, a number of teams including the Red Devils pulled out.
However, it did little to lower the angst of the fans against the Glazers, leading to protests both on social media, outside Carrington and at Old Trafford.
UEFA had announced some financial sanctions for the nine clubs including Manchester United. The club are required to pay €15m as a contribution to grassroots programmes in Europe. Furthermore, there will be a 5% docking of European revenue for one season.
Nonetheless, Manchester United co-owner Joel Glazer will be paying those fines and contributions from his pocket. The club will not be required to use their funds for the same.
This comes in light of agitated fan protests that led to the Liverpool game being rescheduled as the owners try and mend some of the bridges.

Even Arsenal owner Stan Kroenke will be doing the same as he has agreed to shell it out from his own funds. That is obviously the right thing to do as these owners were the first people to agree to this gigantic mess. It will be interesting to see how they proceed to appease the fans in the coming months.
