Pau Torres opens up on facing Manchester United in the Europa League final
It is no secret that Pau Torres is a player that Manchester United are keeping tabs on going into the summer transfer window.
The Red Devils are in the market for a new centre-back to partner Harry Maguire at the back. Torres is one of the players on our radar.
United will get a first hand appraisal of the Spaniard’s abilities when they take on Villarreal in the Europa League final. Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s side are keen to complete the deal before this summer’s Euros and the 24-year-old now has an opportunity to showcase just why.
Torres put in a heroic performance yesterday night at the Emirates to keep Arsenal at bay. The Yellow Submarine held onto a 0-0 draw to prevent an all-English final.
According to The Metro, Torres knows his side face a formidable foe in United. While Solskjaer’s men may have lost yesterday night, the tie was decided beforehand and the Red Devils could let their foot off the gas a bit.
“We’re facing a huge club in Manchester United and we’ll have to work very hard to win.”
Inspired challengers
The 24-year-old Torres admitted that he and his team were keen to prevent an all-English final. Now that they have done just that, the La Liga side has no intention of making up numbers on their big night out.
“We’ve created history by getting to the final but we’re not finished yet.”
Villarreal have shown they have the bottle to hold their own against superior sides. Hopefully, United will be at the top of their game and will not take the Spaniards for granted.
