Man United fans plan fresh protests ahead of rescheduled Liverpool clash

Manchester United fans plan yet another anti-Glazer protest ahead of next week’s rearranged tie against Liverpool

Manchester United fans caused quite the stir ahead of our Premier League clash against Liverpool last Sunday.

Fans gathered in thousands outside Old Trafford in protest against the Glazers and displayed their strength in numbers. A significant incident occurred when a couple of hundred of them made their way to the Old Trafford turf, provoking security concerns.

The match was eventually postponed and will now take place on 13th May. According to The Mirror, that has done little to stem fans’ emotions as they look to continue with their protests on the date.

United fans have made their feelings clear

Protestors gained access to the dressing-rooms, hospitality areas and the pitch. Some were caught swinging on the goalposts while others caused criminal damage to property before the police restored order.

The Glazers meanwhile appear to have no intention of calling it quits. At least not yet anyway. However, the fans are keen to see the back of the Americans.

In fact, the organizers of Sunday’s protest have once again set their sights on a protest preceding the clash on the 13th. Fans have been urged to bring banners, scarves and once again turn up and show their commitment to the cause.

United fans set to protest once again ahead of Liverpool tie

The club and the police for their part will be keen to avoid a repeat of the incidents that happened on Sunday. As expected, there will be increased security around Old Trafford for the rescheduled game.

The eyes of the world will be on the Theatre of Dreams next week. While we support the protestors’ right to gather and showcase their sentiments, we hope no fringe elements divert attention from the real issue at hand.
