Manchester United keen to beat Manchester City to Ismael Bennacer

According to Fichajes, Manchester United are keen to beat Manchester City to the signing of AC Milan star Ismael Bennacer.

The Red Devils are in the market to address a number of key positions. Another one in midfield might open if Paul Pogba leaves the club in the summer.

In the event the Frenchman departs Old Trafford, United are keen to bring in Bennacer to replace him. With just one year left on his current deal, the Alergian may have more in common with Pogba than just their positions.

While the likes of both Miralem Pjanic and Wilfred Ndidi are ahead of Bennacer in United’s list, neither will coem cheap. The 23-year-old is in fact seen as an affordable option given his contract situation.

That is now however to downplay what Bennacer brings to the table. He has infact done well in the Serie-A and has impressed for Milan. He played 26 times this season for the Rosonneri, making four assists. (h/t Transfermarkt)

Capable of playing both an attacking and defensive role in central midfield, the Algerian were certainlu give United more options. In fact, his ability to contribute to the offense shows him to be a upgrade over even Fred.

Bennacer to replace Pogba?

City is also keeping tabs on the player who had earlier spent two years at Arsenal. Still, in his formative years, he made a solitary appearance for the Gunners before being moved on in 2017.

Interestingly, the Gunners are now looking for a midfielder to partner Thomas Partey in the middle of the park. Their loss could be our gain come the summer.
