Manchester United earmark three players to replace Paul Pogba
According to the Mirror (h/t Metro), Manchester United have earmarked three players who can replace Paul Pogba at the club.
The Frenchman will soon enter the final year of his contract at Old Trafford. With his future far from decided, the Red Devils need to make a decision sooner or later.
United, for their part, appear to be keen on keeping him and are set to make a lucrative offer to tempt him into staying. The said offer of £400,000-a-week deal will see him overtake David De Gea as the highest-paid player at the club.
If Pogba does not agree to fresh terms, United are keen to see him sold off this summer. With his deal expiring in 2022, this summer represents our best opportunity to demand top dollar.
In the case that happens, United have earmarked three replacements who can fill the Frenchman’s void at Old Trafford. West Ham’s Declan Rice, Leicester City’s defensive midfielder Wilfred Ndidi and Atletico Madrid ace Saul Niguez are all in the fray. (h/t Metro)
Not only are all three players younger than the Frenchman, but they have shown good potential and could be on the verge of taking the next step in their careers.
Rekindling an old flame?
Both Rice and Ndidi also have Premier League experience and have proven themselves capable of competing at the top. Niguez, meanwhile, has impressed for Atletico in Europe and has been excellent under Diego Simeone.
This is not the first time that we have been linked with the player. The Red Devils kept a keen eye on the Spaniard during David Moyes’ time in charge. Unfortunately, the Scot’s sacking saw us focus our attentions elsewhere.
Whether the time is now ripe for him to make the move to Old Trafford remains to be seen.
