Manchester United in a three-way battle to land Brighton star Ben White
According to The Sun, Manchester United will battle Arsenal and Borussia Dortmund for Brighton defender Ben White.
One of the Premier League’s best defenders, the Seagulls star has impressed in his first full season at the Amex. White spent last season on loan at Leeds United, where he helped the Yorkshire outfit win promotion to the top-flight.
While he is far from the complete package, the 23-year-old has shown good acumen and understanding of the game. Moreover, in the right environment, he could blossom into a top-class centre-back.
The Seagulls value the player at about £35million. This makes him a cheaper alternative to the likes of Jules Kounde, Pau Torres and Raphael Varane – all three who have been linked to United.
However, it can be argued that all the others on the list are at a better stage in their careers compared to White. Just 23, he can however catch up in time.
The youngster has been a regular under Brighton boss Graham Potter at the Amex this season. His performances have also caught the attention of England boss Gareth Southgate.
With the Euros on the horizon, whether White will be a wildcard addition to the England squad remains to be seen.
German giants Borussia Dortmund are also aware of the player’s abilities and are keeping tabs. The Bundesliga side had earlier beaten us to the likes of both Jadon Sancho and Jude Bellingham.
Whether they will once again trump us for a hat-trick remains to be seen.
