Joel Glazer excuses himself from the Manchester United fans forum to be held on Friday

According to The Sun, Manchester United owner Joel Glazer will give the fans forum to be held this Friday a miss.

The Americans have never been particularly liked at Old Trafford. However, the recent backlash following their role in the European Super League appears to have broken the dam.

This has seen the club convene an emergency meeting with seven fans representatives for Friday morning at 11 am. Ed Woodward, who previously hosted these meetings, has since resigned from his post at the club.

Glazers have never been particularly liked at Old Trafford.

The person in charge could be managing Director Richard Arnold, one of the names in the fray to succeed Woodward as executive vice-chairman. Fans, however, are set to be disappointed by the absence of the Glazers.

According to the report, the supporters were keen to talk directly to either Joel or Avram Glazer. However, neither appear to be ready to face the music and appear to have taken the easy way out.

This flies in the face of Joel’s open letter where he spoke of the need to repair his relationship with fans. The American must understand that unless he is willing to meet them halfway, there is little that can be done.

Fans are simmering with rage against Glazers

Just a pretext!

The Glazers’ decision to not face the challenge head-on could very well be the incident that breaks the camel’s back.

Fans have intensified their protests against the Americans in recent days. Thousands gathered outside Old Trafford on Saturday and a plane carrying an anti-Glazer banner was also flown over Elland Road on Sunday.

Now with their latest action, the Glazers have effectively added another dagger to their own backs with respect to the relationship with the supporters.

The Glazers have often failed to put the money where their mouth is and it appears to be the same going forward. It is fair to say that Arnold will be in for a rollicking when he faces the supporters later this week.
