EPL clubs want the big six including Manchester United to do the right thing
According to Sky Sports, the 14 Premier League clubs not involved with the European Super League (ESL) have deemed that the big six including Manchester United do the right thing.
They have called for these six clubs to sack the executives involved in negotiations for the breakaway league. Their logic dictates that they will not be able to trust these executives again.
The Red Devils might as well have made a pre-emptive move in just that direction. Executive vice-chairman Ed Woodward has already tendered his resignation and will leave at the end of the year.
While there were reports that football director John Murtough would also follow, that has since been dismissed. He is now set to enter the summer in charge of the club’s recruitment.
“We had been told repeatedly that they weren’t setting up a Super League so after what’s happened this week, we simply can’t deal with these people again.”
Premier League clubs believe that certain lines have been crossed and the only way is to start over. A number of these men at the top clubs have been less than honourable in their dealings and we for one can understand the other clubs’ sentiments.
The executives of the six clubs have spent this week calling their counterparts at the other 14 to apologise for their actions. It has however done little to improve relations.
Whether the demand for these executives to be replaced is an ultimatum or not is unclear. Either way, everyone could do with a fresh start and new faces at the helm.

The Premier League are expected to take action against them after investigating the events that led to the aborted plans. While the matter is settled, for now, it does not appear to be put to bed yet.
The other clubs have no problems with the players, staff or fans of any of the involved teams. Their wrath however remains focussed on those being the policies that have led to this divide.
