“They can leave” – Perez opens the door for Man United to sign this world-class Real Madrid star

Manchester United target Raphael Varane yet to agree fresh terms with Real Madrid

Manchester United have been given new hope regarding their pursuit of Real Madrid defender Raphael Varane.

This comes after Fabrizio Romano quoted Madrid president Florentino Perez admitting that the player is free to leave if he is unhappy at the Santiago Bernabeu. Varane’s contract expires in 2022 and he is yet to reach an agreement with Los Blancos on fresh terms.

The Frenchman has spent a successful decade with Real Madrid and has been a part of numerous Champions League-winning sides. With the prospect of losing him on a free transfer next year, the Spanish giants will need to cash in on him this summer. It would appear Perez has hinted at just that.

“Varane? I’m happy of our team… if players don’t want to stay at Madrid they can leave.”

The 27-year-old is one of the best defenders in the world and is currently in his prime. Not only would he improve our defence but he can also make an impact from the get-go.

Pacy and good in the air, Varane is the complete package. Moreover, his experience in winning the biggest trophies would be a welcome addition to the United squad.

A mentality giant?

With the likes of Edinson Cavani and David de Gea linked with a move away, the Red Devils will not just be losing two experienced veterans. Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s side lacks experience in winning trophies and losing both players who have had an impact on that front.

The young United squad needs inspiration and Varane could be one of the players to bring that. The Frenchman too is keen on a new challenge and will be motivated enough to help turn around our fortunes.

Varane has so far made 355 appearances for Los Blancos. He was also a part of the French team that won the 2018 FIFA World Cup. A leader on the pitch, his presence alongside Harry Maguire could be a game-changer for United.
