Glazers ready to sell Manchester United amidst European Super League fallout
According to Daily Mail journalist Mike Keegan (h/t The Daily Star), The Glazer family finally appear to be ready to sell Manchester United, 16 years after taking over.
The Red Devils were one of 12 clubs who announced their intention to form the highly controversial Super League. However, resistance from both within and outside forced them to make an embarrassing u-turn and withdraw from it.
Now that their dreams for the lucrative league has gone up in smoke, they might be willing to end their turbulent stay at the club.
The Glazers have already lost one ally in executive vice-chairman Ed Woodward. The 49-year-old has resigned from his post and is the first major casualty of the fallout.
Although he will see out this year, the winds of change appear to be blowing at Old Trafford. Given how fans feel about the Glazers, it is pretty obvious that a change of ownership would find many backers.
The new development might be music to the ears of one man – Saudi Arabian prince Mohammed Bin Salman. The royal was keen on purchasing United in the past and was even ready to splash the £3.5billion needed for it to happen.
Hands red with blood!
Such a deal would have seen the Glazers pick up a massive profit given they invested £790million back in 2005. Unfortunately, they were in no mood to entertain Salman’s offer.
The Saudi prince appears determined to land a Premier League team and made an offer for Newcastle United last summer. The deal, however, collapsed, thanks to concerns over Saudi Arabia’s human rights record and issues regarding TV piracy.
Whether he now fancies another punt at United remains to be seen.

Given the stand the FA and fans took against Newcastle last summer, more of the same can be expected if Salman bids for United. After all, the fans and supporter unions have done to fight the formation of the ESL, it would be counter-productive for us to just be brought out by a man whose human rights record is less than stellar.
It promises to be an interesting few months ahead of us.
