Youngster Will Fish promoted to the Manchester United Europa League squad
According to the club’s official site, Manchester United youngster Will Fish has been added to the club’s Europa League squad.
With the likes of Harry Maguire and Luke Shaw suspended and Eric Bailly unavailable, the Red Devils will have to dig deep against Granada this week.
One man’s misfortune is another man’s opportunity as this has afforded Fish a chance to make his first-team bow for the club. A promising defender, the 18-year-old has trained with the first-team this week.
A towering centre-back, Fish rose through the ranks at the club and has been a regular in the Premier League 2 side this term under lead coach Neil Wood. The 18-year-old has also appeared in this year’s FA Youth Cup and will look to make the most of being included in the senior side.
Fish is also familiar with leadership and has previously led the club’s Under-16 side. He has also stepped up for the Under-23s when needed, showcasing his maturity.
With Maguire out tomorrow, the Red Devils will need to play another defender. Despite his abilities, it would be extremely unlikely that Solskajer would entrust the youngster to step in.
Fish is just the latest name in a number of players who have all been afforded a place in the club’s European journey. Prominent among them are both Amad Diallo and Shola Shoretire, both of who made their debuts earlier this season.
