Jose Mourinho shook hands with Manchester United duo Paul Pogba and Luke Shaw after Spurs loss
Paul Pogba and Luke Shaw are two players who have thrived at Manchester United following the departure of Jose Mourinho in 2018.
Both players were on the pitch on Sunday night as the Red Devils came from behind to defeat Tottenham Hotspur 3-1. This takes us to within 11 points of Manchester City with a game in hand. The win also puts a spanner in Spurs’ hopes of making the top four.
The lead-up to the game saw Mourinho clash with Ole Gunnar Solskjaer. While they continued to spar even after full-time, there was a measured response between Mourinho, Pogba and Shaw.
According to The Express, Mourinho exchanged a brief handshake with Pogba. The brief show of respect may not mean much but it is clear that just one of their careers is going in the right direction.
The duo was not on good terms in Mourinho’s second season in charge of United. While they are not yet friends, the animosity does appear to have taken a backseat.
Mourinho also showed some grace to shake hands with Shaw, who he did not rate much during his time at Old Trafford. The left-back is one of our best players this season and has also returned to the England fold.
Shaw to his credit returned Mourinho’s hug. With him no more the manager at United, it is better to let bygones be bygones.
Victor Lindelof, another player who struggled under Mourinho exchanged pleasantries with the former boss after the match. All in all, it was a night to remember for United, who might just have given themselves the boost to stay alive in the title race.
