Manchester United face a tough battle in their efforts to land Paulo Dybala

According to Tuttosport, Manchester United will have to battle both Chelsea and Paris Saint-Germain to land Juventus forward Paulo Dybala.

The Argentine’s contract expires in 2022 and there has been no progress in any negotiations regarding an extension. Given the situation, the Turin giants are set to cash in on their stellar asset.

Dybala was voted as the Serie A’s MVP last season. He has failed to carry forward that form into this season. He has netted just three Serie-A goals in what has been an injury-ravaged campaign. (h/t Daily Mail)

Dybala is undoubtedly a talented player but has failed to impress under Andrea Pirlo. Despite the Juventus boss insisting that the 27-year-old would stay put, interest in his services continues to grow.

As things stand, Paris Saint-Germain is in pole position to land the player. This can potentially see him form a prolific triumvirate alongside Kylian Mbappe and Neymar.

Juventus suffered a loss of £99million for the first half of 2020/21. According to the media, the Turin giants would need to sell at least six first-team players to raise around £85m this summer. Both Dybala and Cristiano Ronaldo receive huge salaries and the club needs to get rid of one of them. (h/t Daily Mail)

There is no ‘I’ in team

United were close to signing Dybala in the summer of 2019, only for the talks to break down. The player has also held advanced talks with Tottenham before committing his future to Juventus.

Despite being a potentially key signing, Dybala would be amiss to expect special treatment at Old Trafford. While Ole Gunnar Solskjaer rates the player, he is not keen to build the team around him.

An earlier report also goes on to state that a swap with Juventus involving Paul Pogba, who is in his penultimate year, is an option. It would be fair to say that would be a poor deal for us to pursue.
