Early team news as Manchester United train ahead of Granada clash

According to the club’s official site, Manchester United have both good and bad news as they train ahead of the Europa League clash against Granada.

The Red Devils take on the Spanish side in what is their best shot at winning a trophy this season. Coming off the back of a hard fought 2-1 win over Brighton, Ole Gunnar Solskjaer will hope his side can continue their winning run.

Alex Telles, who was recovering from an illness, was pictured in training. However, star attacker Marcus Rashford, who was taken off against Brighton with a knock, was absent.

Youngsters Shola Shoretire and Amad Diallo made their debuts for the club in the previous rounds. The duo will hope to play a part in the upcoming fixture as well.

The same can be said for Anthony Elanga. The 18-year-old recently signed a new contract and will hope to make his senior bow for United. Elanga was the recipient of the prestigious Jimmy Murphy Youth Team Player of the Year award last season.

Eric Bailly will miss the tie after testing positive for COVID-19 while Anthony Martial is also absent following his injury while on national duty.

The major talking point ahead of the clash could be who will start for United in goal. The Red Devils caused a stir last weekend when Dean Henderson continued in goal ahead of the veteran David de Gea.

With the latter’s future up in the air, it remains to be seen who Solskjaer will trust this Thursday.

Granada may not be a big team but have earned their place in the Europa League this season. The Spaniards knocked out the likes of both Molde and Napoli in their first European outing.

The opportunity to add United to their scalps could be a massive motivation for them going into the fixture. But they will have to do so sans full-backs Dimitri Foulquier and Carlos Neva.
