Manchester United star Bruno Fernandes declares that Joel Veltman almost broke his ankle with a rough tackle
According to The Daily Mail, Manchester United star Bruno Fernandes has revealed that the tackle by Brighton defender Joel Veltman almost left him with a broken ankle.
The United ace was subject to a tackle in the buildup to United’s equalizer in the 62nd minute. It is possible that the Red Devils may have been awarded a penalty had Marcus Rashford not scored from the attack.
The 26-year-old Fernandes was seen writhing in pain as Rashford bore down on goal to finish clinically. Thankfully, the hit was not serious and Fernandes was able to shake it off.

With the likes of Anthony Martial injured and Rashford taking a knock, losing Fernandes too would have left us sans our top three scorers this season.
The midfielder and Edinson Cavani complained to referee Mike Dean but the match official did nothing. The fact that Fernandes passed the ball to Rashford before being clattered is testament to his awareness and ability as a player.
With the tackle having come in from the United ace’s blind side, it is fair to say that he can consider himself lucky the damage was not serious.
“I didn’t see it because someone almost broke my ankle.”

Fernandes is not concerned about missing out on a goal and is glad that the team won. A true team player, it is admirable that he places the team over himself.

Ironically, United’s protests didn’t even net Veltman a caution. It was Cavani who picked up a yellow for his complaints. If anything, it is a clear indication of the quality of refereeing in the Premier League.
